Blog Post #2 Supreme Court

After I watched the video about the Supreme Court and how it operates, I learned that they receive 100 cases a week which really intrigued me which is also about 7,000 cases a year but they only accept about 100 cases annually. This surprised me because of how many people are trying to get justice and how many people are trying to voice their reasonings by the highest court. What made the video very interesting for me was the petition that is given to individuals showing the importance of each of the cases no matter what size the case is. It shows how much trust and responsibilities they have. Each of the rulings shapes the social norms. The Supreme Court is a commitment highlighting the deliberation in their decision making.

I was also surprised when I found out that there are over 100 Supreme Court justices in all America serving 16 years which is less than I expected. This shows the role of the Supreme Court justice and the unique role they undertake within the judicial system. This made me appreciate the role even more because the Supreme Court is a notable achievement.

Justices are navigating through interpreting the Constitution. It shows that serving on the Court is honorable and has responsibility to navigate the legal landscapes and the decisions that affect people.  Understanding the significance of what the Supreme Court goes through can set legal precedent and have an impact on American society. This understanding has newfound awareness and profound impact that serve justice equality and the rule of law.

This video showed me the new perspectives of the Supreme Court and what decisions they have to make and what the process is to making those decisions that are guided through the constitution which was written 200 years ago. I saw clearly how much work the justices have to do and the impact they have of ruling the society. I now understand more the Supreme Court and how much they do for the people.
